Answers to common questions
Everything you need to know about renting or listing a monthly parking spot on Rent Your Spot.
Renting a spot
Booking, start dates and what to expect.
How do I book a spot?
Search for your neighbourhood, pick a spot, choose your start date and send a request with your licence plate. The host reviews it and, once they accept, you receive the access details.
Can I rent for a day or a week?
No. Rent Your Spot is for monthly parking only, and the minimum booking is one month.
Do I see the exact address before booking?
You see the approximate location on the map. The exact address and access details are shared once the host confirms your booking.
What if the host declines my request?
Nothing is charged for a declined request. You can send a request to another spot straight away.
Can I choose a spot with a roof or EV charging?
Yes. Each listing shows the spot size, whether it is covered and whether EV charging is available, so you can compare before you send a request.
What if the spot isn't available when I arrive?
Contact us through the site straight away and we'll help sort it out.
How do I end my rental?
Tell your host and us through your account before your next month starts. See the cancellation policy for the notice period.
Listing your spot
Pricing, approvals and getting paid.
How much does it cost to list my spot?
Listing is free. We take a small service fee from each completed booking and you keep the rest.
Who sets the price?
You do. Set one monthly price for your spot and change it whenever you like. Changes apply to new bookings.
Can I choose who parks in my spot?
Yes. Every booking is a request, and you can accept or decline it.
What kinds of spots can I list?
Driveways, garages, underground stalls and private lots. You need the right to rent the space, so check your lease, condo rules or local bylaws first.
When do I get paid?
You are paid for each booking, minus the service fee, to the bank account or payout method you add to your account.
Do I have to rent my spot all the time?
No. You choose the date your spot is available from, and you can pause your listing when you need the space yourself.
How do I give the renter access?
Add simple access instructions to your listing, such as a gate code or where to park. Renters see them only after you accept their booking.
Safety and policies
How payments work and where to find our rules.
How do I pay?
You pay securely through the site when your booking is confirmed. We don't ask you to pay the host directly.
Why should I keep messages and payments on the site?
Booking and paying through Rent Your Spot keeps a record of your agreement and lets us help if something goes wrong. Arrangements made outside the site aren't covered.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy explains the notice period and any refunds for renters and hosts.
Is my vehicle insured while parked?
Rent Your Spot is a marketplace and does not insure vehicles or property. Keep your own auto insurance up to date, and hosts should check what their own insurance covers.
Where can I read the full rules?
Read our terms of service and privacy policy.
